Harry Reid Blames Recent Controversy on Global Warming From Penguin Press @ Aiming to deflect criticism and a call for his resignation by Republicans, Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, blamed his recent woes on global warming. Quotes from statements made by Reid during the 2008 presidential campaign were made public over the last 48 hours. Sources say Reid referred to now President Barack Obama as “light-skinned” and having “no Negro dialect.” According to a Reid spokesperson, Reid had this to say. “It was hot that day I made those statements…it was uncomfortable, and I was sweaty…I spoke in a fit of exasperation from being overheated.” Reid’s team of advisors quickly worked the phones, calling civil rights leaders to express the Senator’s sincerest apologies for any offense he may have caused. Senator Reid has offered to donate an undisclosed amount of money to the RainbowPUSH Coalition. Republican National Committee Chairman, Michael Steele has called for Reid to resign. As for the President, he accepted Reid’s defense that global warming may have caused the derogatory remarks, but refuted that he had no “Negro dialect.” “I can dial it up when the time is right”, the President said.
