Theatre Of The Absurd Pat Robertson Issues Clarification on Haiti Comments FROM PENGUIN PRESS@ Feeling the heat from insensitive comments he made about the recent disaster in Haiti, Pat Robertson, televangelist and sometime go-between for both God and the devil, tried to quell some of the firestorm his comments have caused. On his Christian Broadcasting Network, Rev.Robertson claimed that the poor island nation’s people were, “cursed”. In other excerpts from his quotes, Dr. Robertson stated that, “They were under the heel of the French…and they got together and swore a pact to the devil.” It seems the all the heat is giving Robertson a change of heart. According to Dr. Robertson, “The devil got back to me…and now tells me the devastation on the poor island is to be blamed on televangelists.” Robertson was seen looking over his shoulder during his statement. According to the devil, who was none to happy with pastor, Robertson, “misspoke” on his behalf. “I’m usually going down to Georgia…stopping in Virginia for this imbecile was not on the itinerary.” The devil went on, “Pat has a history of these types of mistakes…I’m afraid we can no longer continue our relationship.” For His part, God had, “No comment.” (underlined to show emphasis) Before leaving the podium, Robertson asked for love offerings, “every little bit helps”, he added. The devil was seen shaking his head. Later a press release was issued by The Reverend’s camp… To show that he was truly contrite Robertson’s popular show, The 700 Club, would now be called the ‘350 club’ and his Christian Coalition will now be called, The Kinda Christian Coalition.
